Modular Distributed & Scalable IoT Security Architecture

SUSTAIN

Based on current cybersecurity standards, such as IEC 62443, ISO/IEC 15408 and IEC 63074, an IIoT security architecture for material handling is being designed that integrates established and novel approaches to cybersecurity to minimize the attack surface and that takes into account the entire lifecycle of IIoT systems during the very long useful life of machines with innovative assistance functions in material handling. In addition, it is being investigated how to implement close dovetailing with safety requirements and standardization processes established in material handling.

Focus on efficient safety procedures

SUSTAIN

The focus is on the holistic consideration of the IIoT systems involved in the use case and their interaction. The IIoT security architecture takes particular account of the resources of the IIoT devices by means of efficient security procedures, such as hardware-based security, MILS systems (Multiple Independent Levels of Security) or decentralised authentication and authorisation.
